Acupuncture could be a perfect natural solution.
I’m Amanda Farrar, an British Acupuncture Council Registered Acupuncturist based in Central Harrogate.
Over the last 17 years I have worked with thousands of Harrogate locals helping with a wide range of health issues.
However over the years I have developed a special interest in helping and supporting people with the following issues:
Fertility & IVF Support
If you are looking for support with infertility issues my intention is to help you in the creation of optimum health by offering an integrated approach that empowers you to make the lifestyle changes that enhance your health and ultimately your fertility.
During every step of the process, whether you’re working on improving your fertility naturally, preparing for the IVF or in the midst of IVF treatment, I offer a sympathetic ear, advice, stress relief and acupuncture to support you during what can be an exceptionally stressful and upsetting time.
During this one hour session we can chat about your fertility journey so far and your future plans so you can consider your options.
I will offer you advice and guidance, based on this information, on how you can maximise your chance of success including dietary and lifestyle advice.
Once pregnant I can support you through the first trimester as even though this can be an amazingly exciting time many women feel just dreadful.
Acupuncture is great at treating morning sickness, improving energy and keeping your stress to a minimum especially if you have had one or more miscarriages before.
Breech Position & Labour Prep & Induction
In the final stages of your pregnancy I can support you with moxibustion for breech position, labour preparation and induction.
He’s finally arrived!!
Still can’t believe he’s here despite all the sleepless nights and dirty nappies!! I just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything you have done for us over the last couple of years.
We really appreciate it and couldn’t have managed without you. Thanks so much for your kindness and support.
Depression, Anxiety & Stress
In 2009 the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), the research arm of NHS funded the Acupuncture, Counselling and Usual Care for Depression (ACUDep) Trial which was carried out by the University of York Acupuncture Research Department.
The aim of the trial was to determine how effective short courses of acupuncture or counselling might be for treating depression when used as an addition to usual GP care. Researchers compared how effective these treatments were, and also assessed the cost-effectiveness of the interventions.
I was part of the team of acupuncturists that participated in treating the trial participates with regular acupuncture for up to 12 sessions.
The results of this study show that both acupuncture and counselling are associated with patient benefits in the short and medium term. (MacPherson et al 2009) Due to my involvement in this trial I have a lots of experience in supporting people through depression, anxiety and stress.
I was encouraged to try acupuncture when I started to have anxiety attacks and I am so glad I chose this option rather than the pills the GP prescribed me. Through Amanda’s expertise I have come to understand the cause of my attacks which has lead to me overcoming this problem and letting me lead a normal, anxiety free life again.
I’m sure everyone would agree that it is better to treat the cause than the symptom which is just what Amanda has done. Acupuncture also allows me to relax and to stop worrying about what is causing the attacks but at the same time developing my understanding of why they are happening which in turn has made me better. I believe that without Amanda’s guidance I would still be suffering from the attacks. Now I know that if they do return I can deal with them in a calm manner.
